It was certainly a busy weekend with the Junior Come and Try Day and the free Star and Haku Lei weaving workshop. Legendary weaving artist and Club Secretary, Maryann Talia Pau, led the workshop, providing an opportunity for all to engage in a creative and meaningful activity ahead of the upcoming Matariki event.
The turnout for the workshop was heartfelt, with members, families and friends joining in the artistic endeavor. Participants gathered to craft beautiful stars and intricate Haku Leis, connecting through the ancient art of weaving. The process of making the stars proved to be enjoyable and brought smiles to many faces, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared enthusiasm.
While the Haku Lei weaving posed a little more challenge, it only deepened the sense of accomplishment once completed. Participants embraced the learning process, supporting each other with encouraging words and inspiring conversations. As the room buzzed with creativity, connections, and laughter, a warm morning tea provided the perfect opportunity to further bond as a community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Maryann Talia Pau for generously sharing her weaving expertise and guiding us through this wonderful experience. Her talent and passion infused the workshop with a sense of purpose and joy.
We are grateful to all who participated, making this event a resounding success.
